Last February my sweet niece Hope got engaged to her boyfriend Chris. He is a great guy and we were all so happy for them. Hope is the only child of my twin brother Steve so of course I immediately offered to host a bridal shower for her.
They had decided on a country wedding at Sunset Ranch, getting married by the lake and then the reception in the barn. Many of the gifts they had registered for had a country theme too. She also decided to use sunny corals and yellows for the bridesmaids and flower girls. Did I mention my girls were the flower girls? With this in mind, I decided to go with a country theme for her shower.
With the wedding coming up in June, we planned the shower for April. I served the Lemonade Punch in pint-sized Mason jars withe yellow and white striped paper straws. We also had Cokes in old-fashioned glass bottles that were displayed in a pretty metal bucket full of ice. I wanted to serve the Cokes because Hope and Chris had included these old-timey Cokes in bottles in their engagement pictures.
I decorated Mason jars with burlap and green ribbons, filled them with fresh daffodils, and placed them throughout the house. I used a white tablecloth on my dining room table and I covered the center of it with a pretty yellow, pink, and green piece of floral fabric from Hobby Lobby.
We started things off by playing shower games. It was fun seeing what everyone knew about Hope and I think we all learned a few new things about her. Lauren took this game very seriously.
After playing games and giving out prizes, we ate. Some of the food I served included chicken salad, spinach dip and crackers, meatballs, tortilla roll-ups, and fresh veggies. We made chocolate cupcakes, cheesecake bites, and fudge for dessert. We had one other special desserts…ever since Hope was a little girl, she always asked my Mom to make her strawberry cupcakes for her birthday so my Mom brought those for her.
A few of the desserts.
My three nieces and my great nephew, Hope, Matthew, Jennifer, and Kristen.
After lots of delicious food, it was time to open presents. Sarah and Lauren were so excited to help Hope open her presents.
She got so many nice things.
We had a great time. Hope is such a sweet young lady and I wanted to make her shower special. We all had a great time celebrating her marriage to Chris.
These girls love each other so much!
Congratulations Hope and Chris.
