U.S. Highway 11 Antique Alley Yard Sale

I think I may have found a new favorite highway yard sale. It is the U.S. Highway 11 Antique Alley Yard Sale and it runs from Meridian, Mississippi to Bristol, Virginia. It takes place the weekend after Mother's Day and it is 502 miles of yard sale awesomeness. I went on Thursday, the first day of the sale and there were lots of vendors with great deals all along the highway. Since I was only … [Read more...]

Opening a New Booth at Oz Antique Market

After having an antique booth in Douglasville, Georgia at Ben's Furniture and Antiques for almost three years, I had decided it was time to try something new. Ben's is a great shop with helpful employees, great vendors, and amazing antique and vintage items and I have been happy with my sales there. But since Ben's was the first place I have ever had an antique business, I wanted to open … [Read more...]

New Display Space for My Booth

Last month I was walking through Ben's, the antique store where I have my booths when I saw some really awesome items in a friend's booth. It was two older display cabinets. I immediately inspected them but couldn't bring myself to buy them. I finally did buy them both,  about a week apart. Both of these pieces came from an old hardware store in Powder Springs, Georgia. They are both hand-made … [Read more...]

The Hwy 31W Treasure Hunt – Shopping in Kentucky and Tennessee

Last weekend we decided to try a new highway yard sale, the Hwy 31W Treasure Hunt. This sale takes place every year during the second weekend of September. It is a 150 mile yard sale that goes from Nashville, Tennessee to Louisville, Kentucky. We started in Nashville and made it to Horse Cave, Kentucky. The best sales were definitely in Kentucky. We actually didn't find that many in Tennessee. … [Read more...]

A New Antique Booth and a Change of Direction

It is hard to believe that it has been almost a year since I have posted anything on my blog. A lot has happened in the past year and I have decided to change the focus of this blog. My original focus was on home decorating and DIY, and while I will still do some posts on those topics, I want to focus now on what has been occupying much of my time lately. About a year and a half ago, I opened an … [Read more...]

Country Living Fair Ticket Giveaway

Last year I attended the Country Living Fair for the first time and had a great time.  There was just so much to see and do (and buy). Fall is the perfect time to visit a fair and this one takes place October 24-26. This year I am excited to be going again and to make it even better, I have two tickets to give away, courtesy of Explore Gwinnett. Some of the highlights from last … [Read more...]

Serenbe Designer Showhouse

Last week I had the opportunity to tour the Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles Serenbe Designer Showhouse. Listed at 1.2 million dollars, the home is located in the Chattahoochee Hills community called Serenbe. Steve and Marie Nygren founded Serenbe and in 2012 it was the location of the HGTV Green Home. The community has an organic farm, restaurants, Montessori school, and many cultural … [Read more...]

2014 World’s Longest Yard Sale

Earlier this month we headed over to Alabama to check out the World's Longest Yard Sale. I had been wanting to go for the past few years but we always had something going on that weekend. This year it worked with our schedule so we loaded up the van with quilts, boxes, and packing material and started our adventure. I had done some research and knew that while the official sale started on … [Read more...]

Antique Booth

I have been busy the last few weeks working on a new project and I am excited to share it with you today. My friend Anne and I have opened an antique booth at Ben's Antiques and Market in Douglasville, Georgia. Ben's just opened last Fall and is located in the old Kmart building on Highway 5. Remember shopping there as a kid? I know I do. This was our booth before we started painting and … [Read more...]

Container Gardening with the Southern Living Plant Collection

Southern Living has always been my favorite magazine and I have been reading it for years. They have so many great articles on decorating, gardening, and traveling in the South.  Last fall I visited their Idea House in Nashville and it was beautiful. In addition to publishing the magazine, Southern Living has been selling its own collection of plants since 2008. While I had seen them before at … [Read more...]
