A Baby Shower for My Niece

Earlier this month I hosted a baby shower for my sweet niece Hope. She is expecting her first baby, a little boy, and we are all so excited.   Her baby room theme is dinosaurs so I decided to incorporate a few of those into the decor. I ordered some dinosaur cookie cutters from Amazon and made cookies. I put out a few stuffed dinosaurs on the tables as decorations that she had … [Read more...]

Country Living Fair Ticket Giveaway

Last year I attended the Country Living Fair for the first time and had a great time.  There was just so much to see and do (and buy). Fall is the perfect time to visit a fair and this one takes place October 24-26. This year I am excited to be going again and to make it even better, I have two tickets to give away, courtesy of Explore Gwinnett. Some of the highlights from last … [Read more...]

Serenbe Designer Showhouse

Last week I had the opportunity to tour the Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles Serenbe Designer Showhouse. Listed at 1.2 million dollars, the home is located in the Chattahoochee Hills community called Serenbe. Steve and Marie Nygren founded Serenbe and in 2012 it was the location of the HGTV Green Home. The community has an organic farm, restaurants, Montessori school, and many cultural … [Read more...]

2014 World’s Longest Yard Sale

Earlier this month we headed over to Alabama to check out the World's Longest Yard Sale. I had been wanting to go for the past few years but we always had something going on that weekend. This year it worked with our schedule so we loaded up the van with quilts, boxes, and packing material and started our adventure. I had done some research and knew that while the official sale started on … [Read more...]

Bryant Antiques in Asheville

I recently posted an article about opening an antique booth in Douglasville. I have been busy this last month getting my booth painted, decorated, and stocked full of cool antique and vintage items. While my focus right now may be on my antique business, I still love visiting other antique stores to shop and get ideas for my booth. Last fall I visited Bryant Antiques. Who knew that I would be … [Read more...]

Antique Booth

I have been busy the last few weeks working on a new project and I am excited to share it with you today. My friend Anne and I have opened an antique booth at Ben's Antiques and Market in Douglasville, Georgia. Ben's just opened last Fall and is located in the old Kmart building on Highway 5. Remember shopping there as a kid? I know I do. This was our booth before we started painting and … [Read more...]

Front Porch Tablescape

I think the weather has finally warmed up enough for us to start enjoying spending more time outside. The temperatures have been all over the place this spring, but it is finally starting to feel like May in Georgia. Now that pollen season is finally over (for the most part), I thought I would do some spring cleaning on my front porch. I decided to start with my bakers rack, which is covered in … [Read more...]

Container Gardening with the Southern Living Plant Collection

Southern Living has always been my favorite magazine and I have been reading it for years. They have so many great articles on decorating, gardening, and traveling in the South.  Last fall I visited their Idea House in Nashville and it was beautiful. In addition to publishing the magazine, Southern Living has been selling its own collection of plants since 2008. While I had seen them before at … [Read more...]

ASO’s Grand Salon by Barbara Westbrook

The Atlanta Symphony Orchstra's Decorators' Show House features the work of so many talented designers that I just haven't stopped writing about it. I wrote an article that featured the entire house two weeks ago and last week I wrote about two of my favorite rooms. Here is one more favorite. How is it possible to have so many favorite rooms in one house? Well, if you take the time to tour the … [Read more...]

ASO’s Blue and White Family Room by Timothy Corrigan

I have always loved a classic blue and white color scheme in a room and this beautiful room by Timothy Corrigan is an outstanding example of how to use these two colors together. Corrigan decorated the family/living room at this year's Atlanta Symphony Orchestra's Decorators' Show House. Last week I toured the Show House and I wrote an overview about the house on Saturday and yesterday I … [Read more...]
