Fall Fun

Fall has always been one of my favorite times of the year. The crisp, cool air is always a refreshing change after one of Georgia’s hot summers. Some of our favorite activities happen in the fall. There are festivals and fairs, annual visits to Burt’s Pumpkin Patch, Trunk or Treating, and playing in the leaves. We love pulling out cool weather clothes and making the transition from shorts and … [Read more...]

Country Living Fair 2013

I visited the Country Living Fair this year for the first time and it was so much fun. The weather can be crazy in the south and the day I visited was no exception. I got there right as the fair was about to open and it was 30 degrees as I waited in line. Brrrrr. It was still a beautiful day in Stone Mountain, Georgia in spite of the cold. I love shopping at estate sales and the Country Living … [Read more...]

Joy Christmas Tray

While attending the Haven Conference this year with other DIY bloggers, I had the opportunity to decoupage this cute tray from Pier One at the Cottonelle booth. The papers they had to choose from were nice but none of them really went with my décor. I made one anyway with purple and gold patterned paper. This week I was walking through Hobby Lobby admiring the Christmas decorations when I came … [Read more...]

Fabric Bulletin Board

I have seen fabric covered bulletin boards many times and always thought they looked like they would be fun to make. So here is my version. First I started with this yard sale find. It was a very faded Monet print in a very pretty frame. I simply removed the print, matting, and glass. I chose this fun fabric for the bulletin board. Here are some of the materials I used. I probably … [Read more...]

Starbucks Berry Chai Tea (Almost)

About five years ago I met a lady at church and we were gradually becoming good friends. We both had a lot going on and never seemed to finish our conversations when we would see each other. One day she said to me, “Hey, let’s meet at Starbucks and we can talk about things there.” Now I don’t like coffee. I never have. I don’t like the way it tastes and I don’t like the way it smells. That’s … [Read more...]

Recovering a Sewing Chair

A couple of years ago I bought a sewing table, cutting table, and a rolling storage chair for my sewing room at my neighbor’s yard sale. I was so excited to get these pieces. I had recently gotten more interested in sewing and thought they would be the perfect addition to my sewing room. One problem though….I didn’t actually have a sewing room at the time. So they sat in my garage. For two … [Read more...]

Christmas Nativity

Every year my girls and I look forward to decorating for Christmas and one of our favorite decorations is the Christmas nativity. Perhaps I should say this in plural because we have several that we put out. We are celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ so what better decoration is there? One of my favorite nativities is the one we place on our mantle. I love having it front and center where … [Read more...]

Shopping for Fabric

I have always enjoyed going to fabric stores. My hometown has a JoAnn’s but sometimes I want more selection, especially when shopping for home décor fabric. Luckily my best friend makes custom window treatments for a living and a few years ago she took me to an awesome fabric store. Now I go by myself and spend hours touching the fabrics, clipping samples, and being inspired by the beautiful … [Read more...]

Cat Diaries

Well, you were going to find out soon enough. Not that I was trying to hide it. But yes, I am a cat person. My children are cat people. We all love cats. How many cats do I have you’re asking? Six. Yes I said six. There’s Bluebell, Mayble, Sapphire, Blackie, Pearl, and Cupcake. It started out innocently enough. A few years ago we told our children that we would get them each a cat. So that was … [Read more...]
