A Creepy Doll Collection

I came away from last Friday night’s auction with some great finds.  Some high end newer furniture, a few antique pieces of furniture, vintage puzzles, doilies, and children’s books, and….. a collection of older dolls (which were immediately referred to as “creepy dolls” by friends of mine attending the auction).

I don’t know much about older dolls. I could just tell these had some age on them, and despite their “creepiness”, I thought they would appeal to someone out there. Plus they were a great deal.

Since they didn’t have any type of maker’s mark on them, I decided to sell them as a lot on ebay. I’ve had a whole lot of lookers so far but no offers yet.

My daughters have requested that I hurry up and sell them so they don’t have to look at them anymore. I feel the same way they do. LOL

Here are the creepy dolls. Please let me know if you recognize any of them.

So what do you think?

The closeups are definitely the creepiest. This one looks more worn/well loved than creepy to me.

But these next two….yikes!! Check out their eyes. Blank stares.

Different styles of hands.

And feet.

I guess you could call this one a crackhead. (Sorry I couldn’t resist.) Look at that crack on her head. Someone had tried to tape it together so now it has sticky residue on it. I was reluctant to mess with it since it is so old and fragile.

I know so little about dolls. I am pretty sure one has plastic body parts and head attached to a cloth body, but I am not sure of what material the others are made out of.

The biggest one is 18 inches tall.

Unless I do really well with these on ebay, I don’t think I will buy these kind of dolls again. They are too unappealing to me. I just thought I would give it a try and see how I do with them. I will keep you posted.

I love them and I see what they once were, precious possessions for some lucky little girls. They really need a loving home. How much do you want for them?

  3. What a crazy collection! I’m anxious to hear how they do on eBay :) Thanks for sharing your creepy finds with us at Vintage Charm, Florence–
